Supplicating to Allah in other than the Arabic Language

Q 1: How should we supplicate to Allah (may He be Exalted)? Is it permissible for a person to supplicate to Allah in Salah (Prayer) in any language? Will their Salah be valid?

A: The Muslim should supplicate to Allah (may He be Exalted) with humility and in secret without asking for unlawful things. A person may supplicate to Allah both during Salah and at other occasions, in whatever language they speak. Salah is considered valid even if the person supplicates to Allah (may He be Exalted) in a language other than Arabic. When supplicating to Allah (may He be Exalted) during Salah, a person should use the Du`a’ (supplication) that are authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) and recite them where and how the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited them so as to follow the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Many scholars wrote books on the Du`a’ and Adhkar (invocations and Remembrances said at certain times on a regular basis) of the Prophet (peace be upon him), such as (Al-Kalim Al-Tayyib) by Ibn Tayymiah, (Al-Wabil Al-Sayyib) by Ibn Al-Qayyim, and (Riyad Al-Salihin) and (Al-Adhkar) by Al-Nawawy. You can buy any of these books to know the authentically reported Du`a’ and Adhkar, and how and when they should be said. This is better and of great benefit to you.
May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

Al 'Allaamah Najmee's Advice During These Troubling Times

Author: Shaykh Ahmad ibn Yahyaa an-Najmi (may Allah have mercy upon him)
Translator: Abu 'Abdis Salaam Al Juyaanee

Q: Al 'Allaamah Ash Shaikh Ahmad An Najmee (rahimahullah) was asked,

"What is your advice to a Muslim during these (current) days of our?"

A: I advise that they live (their life) upon Tawheed and the correct Creed. They should perform the obligations and mandatory acts and stay far away from sins and prohibited things. They should accompany the righteous and stay away from the wicked. They should follow the Sunnan (the ways of the Prophet (ﷺ)) and avoid (all forms of) innovation. Beware of Fitnah, for verily it is a lot (and widespread) during this time. I advise that they stay in their home and cry over their sins as the Prophet (ﷺ) said to one of his companions,
"Stay in your home and cry over your sins."
And the success is with Allah.

The Salafy Should...

My dear Salafis,

The methodology of the Salaf, is that which the pious predecessors were upon in creed, worship, character and manners; and an acute application of the rules and regulations of the Book and the Sunnah. The Salafis are the furthest people from going against and contradicting Allah's legislation and religion.

Knowledge is taken from its people. (Therefore), stick to the scholars and stay away from the Fitnah, that which is apparent from it and that which is hidden, (that which is directly and indirectly connected to it).

Be diligent in striving to unite the word and hearts (of the Salafis), because they are the people of the Sunnah and Jamaa'ah. They are not the people of innovation, deviation and separation. (The Salafis) are those who have sound and correct principles. They do not return back to the ignorant, blind followers and pretenders of knowledge for the application of the principles (of the religion). (NO), rather, they follow the scholars. The Salafis follow the proofs and evidence even if it goes against their desires. The Salafis do not have any contradictions in their methodology. The Salafis are not those who profess to follow the truth yet when there comes a proof that is not in their favor (go against the truth by) resorting to loopholes so as to avoid following it; (and thus prefer) and resort to blind following. This (in fact), goes against the Salafy methodology. Rather, the (Salafis) are the people of proof; they follow it in truth, not screamingly nor deceptively.

The Salafis strive to have concern for each other like the example of one body. The Salafis work hard to unite the hearts and bodies upon the truth and guidance. (Thus), they are pained by that which causes pain to their brothers and sisters.

Salafiyyah is a methodology of truth and honesty, justice and purity of heart, sound intelligence and a methodology of love and mercy to those who are worthy of such. (This is because the Salafis) hate those who they are commanded to hate by the legislation.

My dear Salafy, don't wait for your brother to flip and change for the worst. Rather, be diligent in helping him stay steadfast upon the truth.

The Salafy (should) be one who pardons, overlooks and sees beyond (the shortcomings) of his brother who is a mirror for him.

Be from the people of the truth, those who aid the truth, and call to the truth, even if it is against themselves.

And Allah knows best.
